On the verge of Twitter’s 11th anniversary, the company wanted to make their mark in a big way — but they wanted to do so in a manner that would deliver a personalized experience to their users. To encourage them to join in on the celebration, Twitter decided to create custom notifications honoring the anniversary of when they first joined Twitter.
To create a truly festive experience, we worked with the design team at Twitter to develop handmade, typographic numbers in vivid brand colors that would instantly catch the eye of their audience when placed in their feeds. The 'Twitterversary' Project was an exploration of elementary materials where the primary focus was to create an aesthetic that was both fun and delicate, textured and seamless. Brightly colored card stock, scissors, and hole punches contributed to a sense of childlike playfulness, while simultaneously delivering a sophisticated result that was alluring to everyone from design experts to novices.
In today’s world of graphic design, the vast majority of images consumed by the public are created digitally. Taking a step back and starting with the basic art materials that make design so tangible in the first place allowed us to create graphics that were wholly unique and memorable far past when they appeared in users’ feeds.
