Allbirds — a company that offers shoes made of premium natural materials — approached us in search of a design partner that could help them revamp their web and digital presence, all while sticking to the tight turnaround cycle that retail companies know so well. Our team was given two directives: showcase “the world’s most comfortable shoe” in a way that would accurately preview what consumers would find in the box, as well as foster a sense of connection among their target audience of Millennials.
In order to achieve this, we knew we would need to find a balance between the sleek, minimalist design of the product and a sense of playfulness that would stand out to consumers amidst a market saturated with a clean, modern — and, at times, cold — aesthetic. With this in mind, we developed a geometrically-inspired visual story that heavily emphasized the product, while charming illustrations and highly-expressive, action-packed images added a sense of levity. The concept was readily embraced by Allbirds’ in-house marketing team, and in keeping with the pressing timeline, our designs were soon live on their homepage, product page, and partnerships page, as well as their digital event invitations and newsletter, displayed above.
Ultimately, the updated web pages and marketing assets engaged the audience by allowing them to imagine themselves exploring life’s everyday adventures with Allbirds.
